Berry Creek Packing Company partners with growers to offer a full range of mango packing and associated services. Our service begins well before the trees are fruiting. We can assist growers understand and work through food safety and quality assurance programs and provide access to training and support that may be required.

We work with growers on crop forecasting and provide the best advice we can on volume capability when your fruit is ready for harvest – Shed capability, Logistics capability and Market capability. We provide as much accurate information on the upcoming season as we can to assist growers make important decisions about their crop.

Berry Creek Packing Company treats, grades, packs, cools and transports produce in accordance with industry best practice. All products are identified with a number that is unique to the delivery batch and grower and product is identified by this number from the shed to the market.

 Our Process

OUR PROCESS

Arrival Arrival

Mango produce is received and growers are issued with a delivery note, detailing a unique batch number that stays with that produce until it arrives in the market.
Services Washing Washing, Sorting & Packing:

Produce is placed into a water drop, washed on brushes, treated for fruit fly and bacteria according to ICA 19-03, dried in the drying tunnels, sorted by experienced Berry Creek Packing Company team, size graded & packed into quality cartons. Standard 110 trays are used to ensure packing line productivity and ease of flow through the supply chain .Cartons and trays are made from heavy duty board that provide strength during transportation and storage, ensuring that perishable contents get to the consumer in the best possible condition.
Services Traceability Traceability:

All trays are labelled and bar-coded in accordance with FSANZ standards, detailing Class, Size, Variety, Grower ID details and batch numbers.
Services Classing Classing:

Fruit is classed according to the CODEX Alimentarius standard for mangoes .CODEX STAN 184-1993 and the quality of fruit determines the packaging and labelling used.This product differentiation ensures that the highest quality fruit stands out in the market.
Services Labelling Labelling, Inspection & Storage:

Once packed, mangoes are labelled and a final inspection is undertaken before the tray is stacked on to a CHEP pallet. All trays are scanned into Gateway Fresh-Track system before being placed into a fan forced cooling facility and then into cool storage until pallets are transported out. The Fresh Track system ensures optimum traceability from the farm to the consumer.
Services Distribution Distribution:

Produce is loaded into state of the art refrigerated trucks and transported straight to a central transhipping facility; it is then transhipped out to final market destinations. When pallets are on the road they are individually tracked through a WEB Based tracking system, ensuring that we know where produce is at all times.
Services Delivery Delivery:

Berry Creek Packing Company engages independent market inspectors who work with unloaders and market agents and all produce is sign for upon arrival in the market.
All of this means that growers can have confidence that their produce will arrive in the market in optimum condition and that all produce can be tracked and traced along every stage of the supply chain.

Berry Creek Packing Company has a strong skilled based management team; qualified HACCP practitioners and audited HACCP systems; the most advanced grading and packing equipment available on the market; state of the art cooling facilities ; along with Fresh Track and pallet tracking WEB technology.

All of this means that growers can have confidence that their produce will arrive in the market in optimum condition and that all produce can be tracked and traced along every stage of the supply chain.

HACCP Accreditation

Berry Creek Packing Company has attained HACCP accreditation meeting the requirements of Codex Alimentarius Alinorm 97/13A for the following activities:

  • Receivable
  • Inspection
  • Post-harvest treatment
  • Grading & Packing
  • Storage & distribution of finished products of Mango

This accreditation was attained on the 16/6/2003, with an audit being undertaken annually.

Memo to all Growers: information concerning accreditation

Home Leaf

Due to the enforcement of marketing guidelines concerning quality and chemical residues in fresh produce, Berry Creek Packing customers will be required to submit spray diary copies and orchard plan with their first deliveries. We will also require a M.R.L. test and report carried out on your first fruit to be marketed.

This test and report will be a one off, valid for all produce for the year. Growers, who have achieved Fresh-Care/HACCP accreditation or have attended approved supplier training programmes, will already be aware of the requirements.

Growers with Fresh-Care/HACCP accreditation; please supply us with a current copy of your certificate before packing commences.

Growers who have not achieved Fresh-Care/HACCP accreditation can be listed as provisional suppliers from the current season.
